Melissa officianalis - A strong scented perennial that attracts bees. Full, spreading bush habit, with shiny dark green leaves well-supported on woody stems standing 2� tall. Harvest before flowering, as smell, taste, and medicinal properties will decrease as the stalks mature. Needs fertile soil in sun or shade (in warmer climates plant in shade only). Transplants can be started indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds 1?8 -1/4� deep, plant seedlings 18� apart. Can be direct seeded after all danger of frost has passed. Perennial
