The CSA model used by many small, diversified farms is inspiring and has revolutionized the relationship of consumers to their food sources, replacing the anonymity of industrial agricultural with a direct connection between eaters and farmers.

Here at High Mowing Organic Seeds, we strive to build a community of growers by fostering a direct connection with our customers. This commitment led us to an idea: a Community Supported Seed (CSS) program, where our customers � our community � could purchase �Seed Credits� to be redeemed the following season.

In a CSA, customers invest in their farmer before the crop has even been planted. This investment expresses support for the farmer�s endeavor and provides income at a time when costs are high and sales are low.

Here at High Mowing Organic Seeds, we are also running a seasonal business, but our income profile is a bit different. Our expenses are high in the fall and early winter, but our peak income season isn�t until late winter and spring. We would much rather give the interest that borrowing money costs to you, our customers, who have helped us to grow.

By joining our CSS, you put your seed dollars towards supporting a family-owned company committed to meeting your farming needs with high-quality organic seeds.

How the CSS program works:

We invite you to purchase your �Seed Credits� at a 10% discount through December 31, 2009. For example, if you purchase $100 worth of seed credits, you will pay only $90. You can purchase seed credits in any denomination. Call us to place a phone order if your desired seed credit amount is not listed below. These seed credits can then be redeemed anytime during 2010. You will receive your Community Supported Seed certificate and redemption instructions by email in early January. Thanks for your support!

Please note: CSS shares cannot be applied towards Seed Rack purchases.
